The Portfolio Manager partners with the relationship manager in supporting the growth and development of the Small Business Banking loan portfolio. Provides ongoing asset management and of a small business loan portfolio and conducts regularly scheduled reviews of overall asset quality, with a focus on evaluating performance against original underwriting expectations. Evaluates information including borrowers/sponsor financial statements, pro forma statements, planned capex, project status reports, stress testing, and overall analysis of the credit condition of the borrower/sponsor.

• Establish and maintain favorable relationships with current and prospective clients.
• Provide administrative and client relationship support for the Business Banking team.
• Identify and capture opportunities to cross-sell additional loan and other bank products to clients; including partnering with and referring business to internal business partners and related experts when appropriate to drive Bank profitability and efficiency.
• Provide support, as requested, to Underwriting, Credit and the Senior Credit Risk Officer (SCRO) in managing loans, pipeline, and renewals; including but not limited to conducting site inspections, appraisal reviews, and borrower or project financial analysis.
• Prepare Letters of Interest (“LOIs”) and term sheets as requested, review commitment letters, review and approve annual loan reviews and provide assistance in ensuring consistency with execution of terms and conditions provided to the client.
• Analyze clients’ needs; assess the client’s financial position and credit worthiness to ensure loans meet credit and financial requirements for lending quality and compliance as determined by the Bank’s Credit Policy.
• Make critical decisions regarding credit risk supported by substantial analysis and critical data-based decision making.
• Correspond with applicant(s), internal employees and outside vendors in obtaining all necessary documents to underwrite, process and close new loans as well as renewals or obtain expiring or lapsed documents, including but not limited to title policy, UCC searches, appraisal reports, and environmental reports.
• Assist clients in making advances and pay downs on committed loan facilities and with completing routine treasury activity such as transfers and overdrafts.
• Monitor loans and deposits, overdrafts, past due, collateral, and documentation exceptions and communicate with bankers and as appropriate.
• Assist bankers in preparing and reviewing all documents necessary to onboard new client relationships and close new and renewed credit facilities.
• Schedule and coordinate meetings and prepare managerial reports.
• Work closely with the borrower to provide a preliminary assessment of the necessity of an extension or modification and communicate with the SCRO.
• Conduct analyses credits and make recommendations as to whether an extension/modification is deemed appropriate.
• Meet or exceed goals related to retaining and broadening existing client relationships through execution of business development strategies and plans.
• Report on the overall portfolio, including and not limited to, assessing asset quality, stress testing, industry and market analysis, competitive analysis, asset allocation, reserves and non-performing loan analysis.
• Assist in the sales proposal process, including accompanying the lenders on client and prospect calls as well as other sales/client-oriented projects.
• Build trusted, collaborative and supporting relationships with internal business partners, vendors, clients, key resources and strategic partners to provide extraordinary service. 
• Participate in business and community organizations and regularly attend networking events.
• Represent the Bank and Small Business Banking team in a highly professional manner.
• Complete job assignments in a professional, timely and efficient manner; organize and prioritize work.
• Maintain confidentiality; adhere to CrossFirst Bank policies and procedures; comply with laws, regulations, and industry best practices.

• At least two (2) years of Commercial Underwriting or Portfolio Management and Structuring experience is preferred.
• Basic credit training.
• Knowledge of commercial banking products and services including credit analysis, underwriting, and treasury management products and services.
• Exceptional organizational skills and demonstrated success in a multi-task environment with attention to detail and follow through.
• Proven ability to review all loan documentation necessary to perfect the bank’s security interest in collateral and to ensure the loan documentation is prepared in accordance with the loan approval from the Bank’s Loan Committee.
• Proficient technical skills with the Internet and in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Salesforce).
• Demonstrated strong financial acumen and high level of problem-solving skills.
• Effective communicator, results oriented, demonstrates the ability to excel in high-pressure situations.
• Exhibit strong interpersonal skills with the ability to cultivate long term relationships and influence others internally and externally.
• Bachelor’s degree with exposure to Finance, Business, or Economics courses is preferred or equivalent work experience.
• An advanced degree and/or ongoing banking seminars and other resources is preferred.
