Position Summary

The Regulatory Compliance Program Specialist will assist the Regulatory Compliance Manager in implementing the Bank’s regulatory compliance program, and to ensure compliance risk across the bank and its subsidiaries is within the Bank’s risk appetite. The program consists of advising on compliance risks, compliance training, compliance risk assessments, and participating as compliance subject matter experts during implementation of new product and business changes.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist in the oversight of Busey Bank’s compliance with Federal and State banking regulations. The Compliance Program Specialist will be an integral part in executing the Regulatory Compliance Program;
    • Responsible for executing and implementing policies and procedures related to the Regulatory Compliance Program. The Regulatory Compliance Program consists of:
      • Regulatory Compliance Risk Assessment,
      • UDAAP Risk Assessment
      • Regulatory Change Management,
      • Key Compliance Risk and Performance Indicators,
      • Industry Risk Analysis,
      • Compliance Training, and
      • Complaints Management
  • Communicate new regulatory requirements simply and efficiently to affected business units to drive changes and meet regulatory expectations.
  • Advise on business unit policies and procedures to ensure consistency in achieving industry best practices and in minimizing regulatory risk.
  • Coordinate, draft and present training materials.
  • Provide guidance to Operational areas on Compliance and UDAAP requirements, based on documented policies and regulatory guidance.
  • Assess new products for compliance and UDAAP risk and provide support during implementation.
  • Review marketing and advertising collateral to ensure it is compliant.
  • Implement and enhance the Bank’s Compliance Complaints Management Program.
  • Work with Senior Heads of Business around the Bank to manage the Bank’s written responses to regulatory complaints received by consumers.
  • Provide Management with periodic reports to assist them in identifying emerging risks related to various areas around the Bank.

Education & Experience

Knowledge of:

  • Federal Regulations, specifically regulations implemented and enforced by the CFPB, Federal Reserve, and State of Illinois
  • Strong analytical, communication (written, verbal, presentation) skills and organization skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Ability to:

  • Work independently and complete assignments on time and completely.
  • Work as a team to meet project deadlines, and collaborate with key internal and external partners.
  • Research, interpret, and apply regulatory compliance laws, regulations and guidance, and provide solutions.
  • Leverage data/systems to automate or streamline the Regulatory Compliance Program.
  • Attend compliance related meetings with business partners at the various bank regions, as applicable, in relation to the Regulatory Compliance Program.
  • This position requires the ability to assess compliance and UDAAP risk in current and new bank initiatives while providing easy to understand guidance to business staff and senior management.

Education and Training:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in the financial industry required. Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM) professional certification or willingness to obtain within 12 months preferred.
  • 5 years of compliance and/or UDAAP-related efforts and initiatives experience or combination of equivalent education/experience
  • Experience in corporate compliance, audit, operational risk and controls compliance, regulatory agency or dedicated compliance practices

Benefits and Compensation

Salary offered is based on factors, including but not limited to, the job duties, required qualifications and relevant experience, and local market trends. The role may be eligible for bonus or incentives based on company and individual performance.

(Base Pay Range: $68,500 - $94,000/year)
