Position Summary

The Executive Director of Business Banking is responsible for shaping and driving the strategic direction of the Bank’s Business Banking segment. This role plays a critical part in driving core deposit growth and treasury fee income while focusing on market positioning, growth strategy, product optimization, and performance management to accelerate revenue, deepen client relationships, and enhance competitive differentiation. This individual will work in close collaboration with executive and market leaders in the Regional Operating Model and Consumer Banking to ensure execution of a cohesive deposit growth strategy across the organization. The Executive Director will also oversee CRM adoption, sales pipeline discipline, and performance tracking across the sales function.

The position reports to the President of Consumer and Digital Banking and will have strong influence on the day-to-day performance of all Business Bankers embedded in the Regional Operating Model.

Duties & Responsibilities

Strategic Sales Leadership

  • Define and lead the strategic direction for Business Banking sales across the bank’s footprint.
  • Identify market opportunities, emerging trends, and competitive threats to inform strategic direction.
  • Evaluate and optimize the Business Banking product suite (deposits, treasury management, loans, etc.) to meet client needs and maximize profitability.
  • Direct sales performance and consistency across markets through alignment of sales processes, goals, and tools.
  • Deliver measurable results in core deposit growth, treasury management fee income, and private client opportunities. 

Regional & Cross-Functional Influence

  • Influence performance of Business Bankers, without direct authority, by facilitating cross-segment collaboration with Regional Operating Model (ROM) leadership – specifically Market and Regional Presidents.
  • Collaborate with senior leaders across ROM, Consumer and Digital Banking, Marketing, Operations, IT and Risk to align sales execution with enterprise priorities.

Sales Analytics & Performance Oversight

  • Partner with Director of Finance and Business Line Strategy ensuring robust analytics frameworks, performance dashboards, and profitability analysis are in place.
  • Use sales analytics to drive decisions on pricing, revenue growth strategies, market opportunities, and client segmentation.
  • Oversee CRM adoption, pipeline management, and sales performance

Market and Risk Intelligence

  • Maintain awareness of competitive positioning, market trends, and regulatory changes.
  • Ensure risk-related considerations are embedded in sales strategies, policies, and client engagement practices.
  • Oversee documentation and refinement of sales-related policies and procedures in collaboration with analytics, risk, and support partners.

Education & Experience

Knowledge of:

  • Strong understanding of credit structuring and monitoring skills, bank policy, compliance, the industry and market information
  • Bank regulations, lending practices and financial products
  • Small business and middle market client segments.
  • Strong sales and customer service skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skill

Ability to:

  • Analyze and interpret numerical data
  • Make independent and difficult decisions within parameters of the Bank's loan policies
  • Originate new procedures and approaches to problems
  • The position routinely requires local travel and occasional out of state travel, which could require overnight stays

Education and Training:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or finance, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • 8-10 years of experience in commercial or business banking; at least 5 years’ experience in a leadership role
  • Formal credit training, an advanced degree and/or ongoing AIB seminars and other resources are highly preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM systems

Compensation and Benefits 

Salary offered is based on factors, including but not limited to, the job duties, required qualifications and relevant experience, and local market trends. The role may be eligible for bonus or incentives based on company and individual performance. 

  

(Base Pay Range: $175,000 - $225,000)
